Gary + Amanda // An Assateague Island Destination Wedding

"Two people in love, alone, isolated from the world, that's very beautiful." - Milan Kundera

I don't even know where to begin with describing the perfect day that was Gary and Amanda's wedding. With any outdoor wedding, there was a definite concern for rain going into the wedding day. Not only were Gary and Amanda going to have an outdoor ceremony on the beach, but they were also going to have a completely open air after-party as well. But Gary and Amanda lucked out with one of the most beautiful days of the summer for their wedding day. Gary and Amanda uniquely designed their wedding day from top to bottom. When Amanda first told me that they were going to have their wedding reception/luncheon prior to their ceremony I was definitely skeptical of the logistics, but the day came together seamlessly. They started their day off by getting ready at separate sites; Amanda at the local condo where her sisters and mom were staying, and Gary and his guys at their campers. Amanda got dressed into dress #1 for the day, her luncheon dress, and they headed off to Waterman's Restaurant for their reception luncheon. Their decor at the luncheon was awesome as Amanda spent many long hours coming up with the perfect centerpieces and decor for the space. They had their luncheon, a speech from Amanda's parents, and then their cake cutting and desert at Waterman's. Gary and the guys left the restaurant while Amanda changed into dress #2, but before heading over to meet Gary, Amanda opted for a first look all of her guests. The acted as her hype crowd as they gasped and cheered her on when she came out in her red wedding dress.

Gary and Amanda's first look was at Assateague State Park. Gary knew Amanda was going to have a red dress but was blown away by his gorgeous bride nonetheless. Amanda then had a first look with her father prior to heading into the campground for bridal party photos. Their ceremony was in Assateague National Seashore, and Gary and Amanda spent over a year getting the proper permitting to be able to have their ceremony and after party on the beach. Their ceremony was beautiful. Amanda's brother-in-law Grant officiated, and Gary and Amanda bought all of their guest's chairs which were their wedding favor to take home. The seating was a bit of a snafu in the planning process as rental companies wouldn't be allowed into the national park, but Gary and Amanda navigated that with ease with this ingenious plan. After the ceremony, they had some beautiful golden hour photos by the water with their pup Bella, and Amanda was even willing to get into the water. Towards evening, the wild horses started making their way towards their after-party reception and Gary and Amanda got some photos with the horse at a safe distance, as the male horses started fighting at one point. They danced the night away with their family and friends at their bonfire. I can't even begin to express what a perfect day these two had, so I'll just leave you with their beautiful photos. Enjoy Gary + Amanda's beautiful Assateague Island destination wedding!
